mid-week catch up [15]

This past week has been my favourite in a long time; despite being upset that I couldn’t spend the week travelling around Europe I’ve made the best of my little staycation.

First things first, I know that I’ve already spoken about this in my wrap up, but My Chemical Romance announced their return and I’m not sure I’ve ever been more excited?! Talk about being my absolute highlight of the decade! I actually screamed when it hit 7pm and they posted the LA show. I’m hoping with my entire being that they come to the UK.

The next best part of this week was starting to cross stitch again. I’ve made some really good progress on The Water-Lily Pond, although it’s definitely not going to be finished any time soon. I forgot how calming an activity stitching is, so hopefully I can work it into my weekly schedule.

I also spent far more time than usual on my bullet journal spread. It’s still fairly minimal, but I have included a Goals section and updated the way that I track my activities. I did try to take some photos, but it’s been so grey lately that I’ve not been able to snap anything worth posting.

The rest of the week was filled with reading, playing emoji blitz, hanging with Matt, and watching an endless amount of Queer Eye and Shrek. I also completed most of my Christmas shopping as we’re having our celebrations on November 24th as my parents are going away for Christmas. It feels strange to be so ahead as I’m usually a very last minute shopper.

To end the week on a high, I signed up for Odeon’s Limitless which felt weird given that I worked there for almost three years, but I’m very happy to be able to go and see films again. I’ve already started planning out what I’m going to see over the next few weeks. Frozen, Charlie’s Angels and No Time to Die are on my list of priorities. I also need to decide if I’m willing to put myself through seeing The Last Jedi again as part of the Star Wars triple bill. I’ve not seen it since I went to our staff screening, yikes.

Earlier I saw Doctor Sleep, and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. If it were a standalone, I think I could be happy with it, but knowing the depth of the novel I’m quite disappointed in the deviations; some of them felt quite dishonest. I know that they may have been deemed necessary so as to marry Kubrick’s The Shining to Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, however, a less heavy handed approach would’ve made for a smoother narrative. I do kind of hope that in a decade or so someone creates a television series that does it justice. I wonder if King’s interested in another foray into TV…

Whilst I haven’t actively done much, I have recharged and I’m feeling much more like myself. I’m somewhat apprehensive about going back to work as I know that I’m not going to have this much me time again for a long while. Hopefully I can create a routine that works for me and maintain this stability.

Let me know how your week has been below!
